Things to do this weekend in Singapore


School’s out and so are the kiddos – this weekend marks the start of the mid-year school holidays in Singapore. As such, there’s plenty of things to do in this weekend in Singapore. Gear up for fun displays at Changi Airport, as well as markets and plenty of shows to catch as a family.

1. Adventures With The Little Prince

If you’re familiar with The Little Prince, you’ve probably experienced a little magic when reading about this whimsical boy’s adventures. Starting 24th May, you can see his world come to life at the departure hall of Changi Airport Terminal 3 – via an adorable mini golf course. You’ll also be able to design your own keychains at B2.

2. Children’s Festival, Gardens by the Bay

The annual Children’s Festival at Gardens by the Bay is back, and this year’s outdoor carnival is centred around the new Inside Out 2 movie. On the roster are arts and crafts workshops and performances that span theatre shows, bubbles, and storytelling. There’ll also be carnival games and movie screenings that include Disney hits such as Coco and Finding Dory, plus nightly light shows at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.

3. Jewel Blooms 2024

We can’t deny there’s plenty to see at Jewel Changi Airport, but here’s a reason to pay another visit to the East from this weekend till August: Jewel Blooms 2024. The serene Canopy Park will feature 5 zones filled with sensory displays that include scents and tunes, all surrounded by the theme of florals.

The attraction is a paid one, but if you want a dose of it for free, we hear that the East Trail at Shiseido Forest Valley also features some of the pretty blooms.

4. Sustainable Kids Market

It’s all about doing good for both the earth and the young’uns at the Sustainable Kids Market. The market is in partnership with the non-profit organisation Peace of Art, where 100% of its proceeds will go to the aid of less fortunate children. Playing a part is easy – just show up at Marina Square and partake in an array of workshops, purchase some eco-friendly crafts and artworks, and appreciate a musical showcase of two.

5. Garden Vibes farmers market

If you have an appreciation for fresh produce and international goodies, then the Garden Vibes farmers market will be right up your alley. There’ll be over 20 stalls selling everything from ice cream and chocolate, to wines and organic produce – all hailing from regions such as New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. Not to mention, a slew of activities from wellness sessions to live entertainment to set the mood.

6. Hop On To Tayo

Tayo the Little Bus is a household name among kids, and from 24th May – 23rd Jun, they can ride a real-life Tayo bus between Downtown East and Tampines MRT. En route, the kiddos will get to sing along to songs from the show, plus take part in educational activities. They’ll also receive a Tayo lanyard and 10% off Wild Wild Wet admission tickets.

7. Late Night at Asylum

It’s all things wacky at the Late Night at Asylum event by ANDSOFORTH – the same folks behind the restaurant Absurdities and the past “Around the World in 80 Days”.

They’ve brought their A game for the event – with live performances, dance challenges, and fun games such as naughty charades all the way till 1am. Participants will also get the chance to try unique cocktails, perfect for winding down after a long week of work.

8. Rollermania 2024

These Northern Lights-inspired displays will be part of the fixed programme at the Supertree Grove, where 30 cloud machines and lasers have been installed to recreate the magical experience.

15. Frida Forever

Iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo will be honoured through the upcoming Frida Forever exhibition. The place will be split into 3 sections, and you can admire interactive paintings, watch an AR movie, and even see intimate parts of the artist’s life like her diary pages and medical records.

16. Tulipmania

If you’re a self-professed flower fiend, bookmark Tulipmania that’s happening at the Flower Dome. Expect a burst of colour as there’ll be rows and rows of the beautiful flowers planted. And in the backgrounds, you’ll also notice traditional Dutch windmills and watermills.

There’ll also be a DIY Tulip Bracelet event ($15/pax) happening on 11th and 12th May. The workshop will include the materials needed like glass tulips and beads, so you can craft a lovely present for mum!
